Rope Access

UMC utilize Rope Access trained NDT technicians for Structural Inspection and
Survey work.
Rope Access is a safe, efficient and time saving method derived from recreational
climbing and caving but modified to utilize a twin rope system for enhanced safety
in industrial use. This makes it the access method of choice for our industry, thus
eliminating the need for costly and time consuming scaffolding.
It has been a preferred method of access (ingress and egress) for our clients offshore
over conventional scaffolding for some of the following reasons:
• Easy and time efficient to set up (rigging and de-rigging)
• Lightweight and portable equipment
• Does not take up space
• Practicality in a number of applications
• Minimum operational team of two operatives (three when over water)

Rig Acceptance Audit.jpg

Rig Acceptance Audits

Rig condition & acceptance surveys are defined as comprehensive assessments by way of a detailed evaluation of equipment and systems. This inspection will cover an in-depth survey of the state of maintenance of the rig. It includes an inspection of all safety critical elements of the installation and all equipment that could be anticipated to cause operational downtime when a mechanical failure of that equipment occurs.

The inspection includes, but is not limited to, the opening of critical equipment for verification that the equipment has been kept in a safe and reliable working condition and includes all major items of equipment to ensure a detailed examination of gear teeth, bearings, chains and ancillary parts for excessive wear, damage, cracks and other defects and for the measurements of clearances.

In addition function testing, pressure testing, load testing and insulation resistance checks for all critical equipment on board the drilling unit, as applicable, will be conducted accompanied by a check that the proper safety devices are installed and are working correctly to prevent accidents and equipment failures.
Our safety inspections can be tailored to your requirements and can incorporate IMO Modu Code, requirements, UK & reciprocal International Department of Energy standards, General Safety Equipment inspections, Safety and Emergency Procedures, Safety Cases, System and Equipment Design with relation to safety, Testing of Equipment Safety Devices and Systems as well as a review of the Safety Aspects of Well Control Equipment and Procedures.
The analysis of equipment condition and standards of maintenance is always in accordance with API & IADC standards and includes the equipment manufacturer’s specifications and recommendations.

Dropped Object Suveys

Safety has remained the number one priority in the Oil & Gas Industry, and in keeping with industry directives, Catalyst Assurance has developed and successfully implemented ‘DROPS’ prevention schemes on many land and offshore drilling units. This ensures safety policies meet both IADC HSE Guidelines Section 16 for “Dropped Objects” and API Recommended Practices Section 4G & 54 for Derricks/Masts and has streamlined the management and implementation of a dropped objects policy and procedure.

‘DROPS’ is an industry-wide initiative focused on preventing dropped objects, with the ultimate goal of delivering a second nature dropped objects prevention strategy across our industry. ‘Drops’ is represented by a large number of operators, contractors and service companies along with several leading industry bodies.

Catalyst Assurance, utilizing the ‘DROPS’ scheme can implement and ensure a streamlined management of a previous or new dropped objects policy and procedure. Catalyst Assurance ensures all policies meet;

  • IADC HSE Guidelines for “Dropped Objects” and

  • API Recommended Practices Section 4G & 54 for Derricks/Masts
